Founded in 1987, Athens Technology Center is an Information Technology Company (SME) offering solutions and services targeting specific sectors incl. the Media, Banking and Retail Sectors, Utilities and Public Sector Organisations as well as horizontal solutions focusing on Content Management, Web Applications, Human Capital Resource Management, eLearning and Mobile Applications. The activities of the Company span several countries in the EU, Eastern Europe, CIS countries, as well as the Balkans and South East Asia.
ATC has been approaching Southeast Asian countries introducing Newsasset, its state of the art, innovative solution for News Agencies and Publishing Organizations. It has been working with high profile media companies of the region, presenting its solutions and assisting management and IT departments evaluate them.
ATC has always been in the forefront of technological developments participating in international professional bodies and associations, which formulate the research and development agendas of the future. The European Technology Platforms (ETPs) have been created in the last decade for this purpose, grouping around specific sectors all the organizations with the best track record in innovation and technological development.
Role in the project
ATC's role ist to contribute to strengthening links EU-SEA ICT networks and organisation, to the elaboration of a sustainability strategy, to exploitation and to support the dialogue process and dissemination.

Yannis Kliafas is a Ph.D. holder in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, California and a B.Sc holder in Engineering and Applied Sciences from Sussex University, Brighton, UK, Dr Kliafas serves as the President of ATC since 2003. He has acted as the Managing Director of the Company from 1989-2003. Prior to his involvement with ATC, he has worked as a Research Director in the Hellenic Arms Industry, a Visiting Associate Professor at the Technical University of Crete, Chania as well as a Visiting Professor at Imperial College of Science and Technology, London. Dr. Kliafas is following closely evolutions in state of the art ICT in both research and commercial projects of the Company. He is also in charge of overseeing all business development and sales activities in ATC.
Nikos Sarris has been working in ATC as a Senior IT Consultant since 2004 and currently is the Head of Operations of the ATC Innovation Lab. He has been working since 1996 in R&D projects as a researcher, project manager and coordinator of large multinational consortia. In the latest years he has mainly been involved in media related projects focusing in the semantic analysis and ‘understanding’ of multimedia news content. He is the co-editor of a book and has authored numerous scientific publications for international journals and conferences.
Marina Klitsi is working in the Innovation Lab of ATC as Project Manager and she has been involved in EU R&D and National funded projects since 2004. A Master degree holder in “Tourism Policy, Management & Design” and a BSc Degree holder in “Social Anthropology & History” from University of Aegean. She is currently involved in the field of business applications, user requirements capture, specifications analysis, project management and dissemination activities in European and National R&D projects.
